My beloved people of Ondo North,
Sixty-five years ago, the chains of colonial rule were broken and Nigeria walked into the sunlight of freedom. The journey since then has not been without storms, yet our spirit has never been conquered.
Our heroes of independence taught us that freedom is not merely the lifting of a flag, but the lifting of a people, from despair to hope, from silence to dignity, from limitation to possibility.
Today, as Nigeria marks another year of her sovereignty, I bow in gratitude to God and to you, the resilient men and women of Ondo North, who have entrusted me with the sacred duty of representation.
In my two years of service, I have embraced the path of silent but steady achievement.
For I believe, like our founding fathers, that leadership is not a theatre for noise, but a labour of sacrifice. History remembers not the loudest voices, but the deepest footprints.
And so, together, we have planted milestones of progress:
Healthcare restored a Medical Centre in Akunu, free surgeries, medical outreaches, and support for hospitals, because no family should be denied healing.
Education advanced, over 1,000 JAMB scholarships every year, ICT training, laptops for students, classrooms rebuilt, and the ICT University bill sponsored for Ikare-Akoko, because the future belongs to the mind prepared.
Infrastructure renewed roads constructed in Oka, civic centres for communities, palaces supported, because development must touch both the living and the heritage of our land.
Power and water delivered, transformers, solar electrification, boreholes, because dignity begins where darkness ends and thirst is quenched.
Empowerment sustained grants for women, training for youths, mechanized agriculture for farmers, because prosperity grows when hands are skilled and strengthened.
These are not headlines; they are lifelines. They are not for applause, but for posterity.
They may not roar in the market square, but they beat like a quiet drum in the heart of every home they have touched.
My people, as Nigeria celebrates independence, we must see in her struggles the mirror of our own.
We are not yet where we desire to be, but we are not where we used to be. Independence is a reminder that greatness is a journey, step by step, seed by seed, brick by brick.
Ondo North, our journey continues. I assure you, the work has only begun. We will not relent, for the dream of a prosperous senatorial district is bigger than one man and one season, it is the covenant of a generation.
Let us then unite our voices, not only in criticism but in appreciation, for appreciation too is a form of critique, the higher recognition that good things deserve to be acknowledged even as we demand for more.
Together, we will build an Ondo North that our children will not only inherit but also celebrate.
